Second graders get it.

Dr. Simmer was the guest Health & Science lecturer for Ms. Johnson’s 2nd grade class at Poplar Bridge Elementary School on Thursday the 19th. Nothing beats a room full of 8-year-olds for energy and enthusiasm! As he talked about sugar (“it’s used by your body like fuel, but just like trying to put too much gas in a car, a lot of sugar isn’t good for you”), nutrition and exercise, the kids chimed in with great suggestions for how to run around outside and which foods are the best ones for your body.
As we now know, nutritional health involves much more than just how much fat one eats – high-sugar diets lead to greater obesity, and high-sugar eating habits when kids are young become high-sugar eating habits as they get older.
Are you a parent? You absolutely need to design a healthy food plan for your kids. Though it may not be as convenient as McFood, it will make a world of difference for your child’s health.
